Time-outs vs ignoring?

When my 13 month old wants something she is not aloud to have and she gets mad and takes a tantrum and even trys to hit me... what is better to do in your opinion, puting her on the floor and just ignore her behaviour or putting her in the corner for a minute? or if you have any other solutions that you find work really well, what are they? keeping in mind that this is only a 13 month old.
