Why do some people think that they see Maddie?

Do people really think that she would still have the same hair cut and style? An abductor would surely have changed that first, and would hardly be walking around with her for all the world to see (even in the remotest places of the Moroccan countryside) when almost everyone has seen her picture and is on the look out for her. Doesn't make sense. What do you think?
