What happened to ABC News' Dr. Tim Johnson?

We liked watching Dr. Tim Johnson's reports on ABC nightly news. He's been gone for a few weeks now and ABC has had a different Chief Medical Editor on the program. Dr. Tim Johnson is still on their website and I can't find any news stories about him retiring, be fired or being reigned. Does anyone know his status?
