Im looking for a game i know was on ps1 it was an rpg?

ok im looking for an rpg it was alot liek the final fantasy and legend of dragoon game i remember it was kind of dark and spooky and the begining cinamatic has the main charcater walking in a field type area and he sees a giant lite come from the sky and pretty much destory his home town like a giant magic lazer or something its an rpg mid eveil i remember the map was kind of wearied like it was made by some goth guy or soemthing and there where places u couldent get in like a cabin in the woods so u controlled the lockpics and trywed to break in i know u got other members t join u through story id say it probably was fantasy adventure rpg the first town is his town witch was just destroyed so theres liek a fiant gaping hole like a crater hit in it most everythigns destroyed i know the places on maps have weired names ; ; seriously lol i cant remember this lol and its bugging me if u think u know some liek it plz tel me
